The Corporate Angel Award honors an organization that has shown extraordinary support and generosity to develop emerging leaders through Leadership Columbus and their own commitment to volunteerism and community trusteeship. Their corporate caring approach has enabled Leadership Columbus to grow and thrive.
Worthington Industries, 2018
Worthington Industries was founded 62 years ago and is known as a “people first, Golden Rule-based company”. Columbus is proud that Worthington Industries calls Columbus home. Its corporate success is astounding with over $3.6 billion in annual revenue, 80 locations in 110 countries, 12,000 employees globally with 1,700 in Ohio.
But as we review the success of Worthington Industries, we would surely be remiss if we did not acknowledge the accompanying Worthington Industries Foundation that has given over $11 million over the last decade in the Columbus community, not to mention the presence of our very own Columbus Blue Jackets–because of the determination of John H. and John P. McConnell.
Worthington Industries lives by the creed “Making a difference makes us who we are” and that is certainly true when it comes to the ways in which the company has enriched the health of Leadership Columbus.
Nationwide, 2013
Nationwide Insurance, a corporation that has made it part of their mission to not only give generously to the entire community, but to each and every community across the country where it has roots, joined the list of our Corporate Angels in 2013. Since Leadership Columbus’ start in 1974, Nationwide has been on our side, nurturing our growth and providing resources, talent and leadership to our critical mission of creating community leaders. Over the years, Nationwide has sent dozens of its skilled leaders through our signature program, lent us talented executives to serve on our board of trustees, and contributed generously to sustain and assist us in growing our programs to make certain our training is state of the art and as relevant to Columbus today as it was in 1974. In addition, Nationwide sets the bar for a corporation that encourages stewardship and volunteerism among their employees through their “On Your Side Volunteer Network”, a program that is dedicated to assist employees become dedicated volunteers and want to willingly give of their time and talents to nonprofit organizations in their communities. Nationwide is generous of spirit and generous with its resources. We are grateful for finding flight under its angel wings as we continue to create community leaders. We are proud to honor Nationwide Insurance with our 2013 Corporate Angel Award.

Fahlgren Mortine, a full service marketing and communications agency, encourages and supports its associates to follow their personal passion for giving back to the community and supports them in their efforts. Company time and financial resources are provided to a wide variety of organizations to which Fahlgren Mortine associates are personally connected. Fahlgren Mortine takes to heart the concept of corporate caring through its extraordinary commitment to Leadership Columbus. In keeping with the company’s philosophy, key company associates are provided time and resources to serve as passionate ambassadors to Leadership Columbus as well as provide interactive and marketing counsel to promote the mission of building community leaders. We are honored and priviledged to recognize Fahlgren Mortine with the 2011 Corporate Angel Award.
American Electric Power, 2010
In 2010, Leadership Columbus honored American Electric Power (AEP), who as a corporation has made it part of their mission to not only give generously to the entire community, but to recognize that a community can only be as great as its leaders. In keeping with the company’s philosophy, AEP has contributed considerable resources of time, talent and treasure to Leadership Columbus and has always served with an open heart. We are profoundly grateful for the exemplary role model AEP provides, not only for their employess, but for the entire community.

Leadership Columbus has benefited from many incredible corporate sponsors, but The Dispatch Printing Company is at the top of the list. The company has been instrumental in helping fund the graduation event for Leadership Columbus’ signature program as well as many other program days and events. Leadership Columbus is honored to be associated with such an outstanding company.
The Crane Group, 2008
It was their recognition of the necessity to make certain that there was always a reserve of community leaders ready to “step up to the plate” and assume leadership roles in our community, the Crane family determined to make this a priority and created the “The Robert S. Crane, Jr. Trusteeship Fund for Leadership Columbus”. This fund has been a source for scholarships to Leadership Columbus’ signature program and helps Leadership Columbus grow new initiatives to improve nonprofit governance in our community. We have been privileged that the Crane Family chose to honor the legacy of Bob Crane’s contributions to our community by linking his name with Leadership Columbus.
