Absolutely ... might be interesting to give us our color right when we walk in before we even start the session intro. You could hold off on assigning the MGMs, Group Heads, etc. but we could start to bond from the get-go instead of waiting til we got to our rooms:0
Absolutely! I wouldn't change a thing about it. The only upgrade would be to find a new creative way for the blue group to communicate the news to the other groups. I feel that if the media would have had a bigger impact in the early rounds, that the society may have fixed some of the problems sooner.:0
Absolutely. A much better grasp of the reality of the Columbus Way.:0
Absolutely. The themes that we heard throughout the day were all well connected and driven toward a common goal within this trusteeship topic.:0
    All were met:0
    Definitely met:0
Definitely! Although I'm not sure if I understand what rehabilitation or prevention initiatives are available in the city.:0
    Exceeded:0
    I believe they were exceeded.:0
I believe they were met. The only suggestion I would make is allowing more time to travel from one location to the other. Since the meetings were at the CEO's offices, it did take a little more time navigating downtown than anticipated.:0
I do believe they were met. There were other things I think we could have done but because the way to regions acted with decisions, etc. not all of my expectations were met. But that is part of this program. This sounds confusing, I know. But the program was fantastic, we all learned a lot and could have learned so much more.:0
I do. I'm not sure how you'd fit it in but I think it would be valuable to get a view of 2 neighborhoods that aren't as similar. Although it was appreciated to be assigned to German Village or Short North I think the debrief discussions were focused on some of the other neighborhoods given the distance between the two on certain issues. Although this disconnect helps emphasize the significant change between communities mere minutes away.:0
I feel they were met. The debrief went a lot longer than it needed and it was really hard to focus. I also feel like this is the second or third time Laurie had something on the agenda for her to discuss and share and she was bumped again. Knowing all of her experience and connections in the community I feel we miss out every time we don't hear from her.:0
I felt the objectives were met.:0
I might think about a different approach than the debriefing. It felt a little long and also not sure it really added significantly to the experience. Maybe change the day to have an in-class program session during the morning and then experience the neighborhoods in the afternoon after lunch and simply break from there?:0
I think it was a combination of the various site visits (there is so much more of a profound affect when you witness certain hardships with your own eyes) and the collaboration (leadership is truly working together and leveraging each persons strengths).:0
I think the objects were definitely met. I wish it would have been possible for groups to visit one community-based facility and one traditional facility so that we could better compare and contrast.:0
I think the program days really opened my eyes to facets of the greater Columbus community that I was not previously aware of. Social service day was particularly eye-opening. Seeing these great needs in our community really impressed upon me the need for leaders to step up and provide ideas, direction, and resources to make our city a better place to live.:0
I thought the scope of the day was rather limited. Nearly half of the day focused solely on the arts when there is a wealth of other civic and community activities in Columbus. And the community visits were almost geared more towards a community service day.:0
I was hoping to have more one-on-one time with the CEO's. The group questions and time was good but came into the day hoping I could ask a few more personal questions that I didn't want to ask in a group setting.:0
I would have enjoyed hearing from someone from the public defenders' office and/or Legal Aid. While I strongly believe that the individuals who serve our community through public safety have the very best intention of maintaining public safety, we live in an age where we recognize that the system is not perfect -- that many times, the system is more difficult for low-income and minority residents of our communities. I also feel that it would have been able to demonstrate how "privatized" our prison system has become. I visited alvis and it was very surprising to many in our group the extent to which the prison system is privatized and how much prisoners have to pay to private companies while they're incarcerated and that private companies are profiting off of the prison population. (food, clothing, phone calls, personal care items, etc.):0
I would have even liked to have seen more, but it would have taken 2 days.:0
I would have liked to meet a private CEO who also shared the passion for Leadership Columbus. We can appreciate why the civic and social service leaders would rally around LC. But I also liked that I was able to meet Stephanie Hightower in person in a small group. She is intense. Perhaps she needs to get tough with some of her clientele. She shared her frustrations with getting black males in particular to participate in the workforce and not in their own "self made economies" of which some are not legal.:0
Is there a way to incorporate more of the "justice" side of things?:0
Like all of the program days I thought it was very valuable and presented me with info and insights I didn't previously have.:0
    Met well.:0
    Non-alum:500
Only thing would have been to include section on Fire Department.:0
Providing a comprehensive picture of the challenges that Columbus faces and bringing together a network of people to address them..:0
Simsoc day was the most illuminating in trying to eliminate my personal preconceived notions of what people need, want and are willing and able to contribute to the community.:0
The community impact project as it educated me on weaknesses in the community and afforded me the opportunity to work with others to make a difference:0
    The objectives were all met.:0
    The objectives were met.:0
The objectives were met. It would be nice to meet with as many executives as possible, but there is obviously not time. So I enjoyed the debriefing session.:0
The program definitely allowed me to hear different perspectives regarding community leaders' role in the community, as the individuals we met with provided very different views as to the social issues Columbus faces. The program also allowed me to reflect, personally, on the role a leader should play in the community.:0
Wanted to understand more about what it means to be on a "Board" and what typical Responsibilities are. Looking forward to the class this summer:0
While it might be the way our group played out - there was a distinct lack of individualism. While there were individual perspective, there were not individual motivating factors that often complicate real life situations.:0

Yes - very impactful. One of the best class days in the program.:0
Yes and more. This was one of the better sessions as the access to leaders like the ones we interviewed is not readily available.:0
Yes and no. Our time with County Commissioner O'Grady was a bit rough. It was difficult to really understand what he was trying to impress upon us.:0
Yes I think the objectives were met.:0
Yes they were met. Most powerful part of the entire program is interactions with our fellow peers and leaders in the community.:0
    Yes!:0
Yes, I believe all was met.:0
Yes, I just wish more folks went on ride-alongs. I think that was an invaluable experience and was great when everyone should share their experience.:0
Yes, it was a great day:0
Yes, it was very beneficial to hear key leaders' thoughts and perspectives on philanthropy. It would have been beneficial to have an overview of their background with more advance notice. In some instances, they had information on us but we didn't have information on them until right before the meetings started. I probably would have prepped in more detail had I had that information.:0
Yes, Josh was especially good about explaining some of the board's he's a member of and what impacts that has on him and his time. He offered some advice on joining things that work for you, including your motivations and avoiding the pitfalls of over committing.:0
Yes, the day highlighted important elements of the quality of life our community has to offer.:0
    yes, the objectives were met.:0

Yes. In hindsight I understand the lack of clarity is/was part of the intended outcome. I think the processing at end of day was lacking.:0
Yes. This was a great group activity and has provided me a handful of take-a-ways that I would like to bring back to groups I belong too. This was a great day and wish everyone went through an activity like this.:0
Yes. It was interesting to see how the different groups acted and responded based upon the amenities and affluence they had and how that impacted their decision making process, or lack thereof.:0
